FRSC Introduces New Acting Unit Commander to Udenu Chairman, Seeks Collaboration on Road Safety

In a bid to strengthen collaboration on road safety and enhance security along major roads in Udenu Local Government Area, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) paid a courtesy and familiarization visit to the Executive Chairman of Udenu LGA, Aka Eze Aka, at the Council Headquarters in Obollo Afor.

The visit, which was led by Officers of the FRSC RS9.15 Obollo Afor Unit Command, was primarily aimed at introducing the newly appointed Acting Unit Commander, Ndidiamaka Cynthia Chiejine, to the Council leadership and to explore areas of partnership in ensuring the safety of commuters within the LGA.

Speaking during the visit, the FRSC delegation expressed appreciation to the Chairman for his consistent efforts in promoting peace and order within the Council area. The Officers highlighted some identified accident-prone areas within the Obollo Afor metropolis and urged the Chairman to intervene, particularly in terms of infrastructural improvements and public enlightenment campaigns to reduce the occurrence of road mishaps.

Mrs. Chiejine, while expressing her readiness to serve in her new capacity, underscored the importance of Community partnership in achieving road safety goals. She pledged the Command’s commitment to proactive enforcement and advocacy measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property on the roads.

In his response, Aka Eze Aka warmly welcomed the FRSC team and congratulated Mrs. Chiejine on her new appointment. He commended the FRSC for their continued sacrifices and dedication to saving lives and reiterated his administration’s commitment to working closely with relevant security and safety agencies.

The Chairman further assured the FRSC that the Acting Unit Commander would be invited to participate in subsequent meetings of the Udenu Local Government Security Council, recognizing her as a critical stakeholder in the Council’s security architecture. He also promised to support the operations of the FRSC in the area, pledging to assist in addressing challenges that hinder their effectiveness.

The meeting was described as comprehensive and productive, as both parties shared actionable ideas and insights on making Udenu’s major roads safer for all users. Issues ranging from road maintenance, traffic control, driver sensitization, to prompt emergency response were extensively discussed.

The visit marks a renewed synergy between the Local Government and the FRSC, signaling a unified front in tackling road safety challenges in Udenu.
