On Saturday May 2, 2026, the Enugu North Senatorial District Diaspora Community, converged alongside thousands of other stakeholders and supporters from across the Zone converged at the Nsukka Township Stadium for a grand endorsement rally in honour of the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. They mobilized massive grassroots participation for the event from their Diaspora Desks across the six Local Government Areas. It marked a significant moment in the build-up to the 2027 gubernatorial race.
The rally, characterized by vibrant cultural displays, coordinated chants, and a sea of party colours, drew political leaders, community influencers, youth groups, and Diaspora representatives who unanimously declared support for Governor Mbah’s second-term bid.
A prominent feature at the venue was a large flex banner boldly inscribed: “Diaspora Community Enugu North Senatorial Zone Grand Endorsement Rally for His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.” The banner also showcased key political figures, including Local Government Chairmen from across the zone, symbolizing a unified political front.

In a keynote endorsement speech contained in a statement made available to news men at the venue, on behalf of Diaspora Desk Officers across the Zone, Apostle Mike M. Ugwu, the Coordinator, Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Diaspora Desks Officers, described the gathering as “historic,” emphasizing that the decision to support Governor Mbah for a second term was based on measurable performance rather than political sentiment.

According to him, members of the diaspora community had independently assessed the administration’s achievements and found them “undeniable and transformative.”
“Our support was not a difficult decision,” Ugwu stated. “We have watched closely, observed keenly, and verified independently. The Governor has not only fulfilled his campaign promises but has redefined governance in Enugu State.”
The endorsement speech outlined several flagship projects credited to the Mbah administration, particularly in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic connectivity.
Among the most cited achievements was the establishment of Smart Green Schools across political wards, described as a forward-looking investment in human capital development. Similarly, the rollout of Type-2 healthcare facilities was praised for improving access to quality medical services at the grassroots level.
The Diaspora Community also commended ongoing infrastructure projects such as the dualization of the Opi–Ugwuogo Road, noting its potential to enhance economic activities and improve connectivity between Nsukka and the State capital.
In addition, the upgrade of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport and the launch of Enugu Air were highlighted as strategic initiatives aimed at integrating the state more effectively into the global economy, particularly benefiting citizens in the diaspora.
The Diasporans at the rally also acknowledged the role of Local Government Chairmen in driving development at the grassroots, attributing their performance to what they described as the Governor’s “deliberate and strategic leadership selection.”
From road infrastructure in Nsukka to security improvements in Uzo-Uwani and Udenu, alongside youth empowerment initiatives in Igbo-Eze South, the administration’s decentralized governance model was presented as a key factor in its perceived success.

The endorsement by the Enugu North Diaspora Community is widely seen as a significant political boost for Governor Mbah, particularly given the strategic importance of the Nsukka Zone in Enugu State’s electoral dynamics.
Political analysts suggest that the unified stance of stakeholders across the six Local Government Areas signals early consolidation of support, potentially setting the tone for similar endorsements from other senatorial zones.
While the event maintained a celebratory tone, it also reflected a calculated political strategy aimed at reinforcing legitimacy through performance-based advocacy.
In a formal declaration, as contained in their endorsement document handed to Journalists at the end of the programme, diaspora community unanimously endorsed Governor Mbah for a second term, citing continuity as essential for sustaining ongoing reforms and development projects.
“We have seen the works, felt the impact, and believe in the vision,” Ugwu concluded. “With one voice, we wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a second term.”
