The serene town of Ada Obollo Etiti in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State was a beehive of activities today as dignitaries from various walks of life gathered to pay their last respects to Late Lolo Roseline Opancha Abba (Nee Ezeme), who passed away recently. Lolo Roseline was the revered wife of His Royal Highness, Late Igwe S.O Abah, the Agubechibe 1 of Obollo Etiti, and a devoted healthcare worker known for her dedication and compassion.
The funeral rites commenced with a Christian Wake Keep held the previous day at her family residence. This was preceded by a solemn Vigil Mass at St. Patrick’s Parish, Obollo Afor, presided over by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ezeme, a paternal nephew of the deceased. In his homily, Fr. Ezeme extolled Late Lolo Roseline for her diligence and the remarkable legacies she left behind.

On the morning of her interment, a Requiem Mass was concelebrated at her home parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ada Agu Obollo Etiti. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ezeme, flanked by Rev. Fr. Casmir Uramah and Rev. Fr. Hyginus Ezebuilo CSSP. The Parish Priest of St. Michael’s Parish Mbu Akpoti, and a relation of the bereaved family, Rev. Fr. Centus Okpe, was the Homilist. He, again paid glowing tributes to the late matriarch, describing her as a woman of grace, resilience, and deep faith whose positive impact was felt by all who knew her.

Following the requiem liturgy, her body was conveyed to her family compound at Agamede Ada Obollo Etiti, where it was laid to rest amid tears and eulogies from family, friends, and well-wishers. The interment ceremony was both solemn and dignified, reflecting the high regard in which the Late Lolo Roseline was held.

The funeral reception, which followed immediately, was held at Central School Field, Amagu Ada, drawing a large crowd of sympathizers and notable dignitaries. Among the attendees was the immediate past Regent of Obollo Etiti, Prince Barr. Chinedu Odo, who described the deceased as “a woman of exceptional character and love to the well-being of her community.”
In the cream of dignitaries were the Executive Chairman of Udenu LGA, Aka Eze Aka, the Justice of Enugu State High Court, Justice Harold Eya, the SPA on Political Matters, Udenu LGA, Chief Maduka Abonyi, the reigning Monarch of Ada Obollo Etiti, HRH Igwe Chukwuemeka Ugwuabah, and his Cabinet members, among many other.
Lolo Roseline’s contributions to the healthcare sector were also highlighted during the ceremony. As a healthcare worker, she was known for her selfless service and compassion towards the sick and needy.
Speakers at the event noted that her passing is a great loss not only to her immediate family but also to the entire Obollo Etiti Community and beyond.
Late Lolo Roseline Opancha Abba is survived by her children, grandchildren, and numerous relatives who have vowed to uphold her legacy of service and humility.
