Today, a crucial peace and security meeting was convened in the Central School field Amalla, at the instance of Aka Eze Aka, the Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, to restore peace and security in Amalla Ward. The gathering was aimed at resolving a lingering leadership dispute between Umuegari and Ifuroka Communities over the position of Coordinator of the Neighborhood Watch Security Outfit in the area. Additionally, the meeting addressed escalating community disputes and insurgency concerns within Ifuroka Community.

The meeting saw the presence of the three esteemed Traditional Rulers that constitute the Amalla Traditional Rulers Council—Igwe Raymond Akor of Enachi Community, Igwe Ubakaeze of Ifuroka Community, and Igwe Patrick Eze (Waziri) of Egari Community. Their involvement played a critical role in fostering dialogue and mediating the issues at hand.

Aka Eze Aka was accompanied by key government Officials, including the Vice Chairman of Udenu LGA, Hon. Mrs. Onyinye Odoh; the Leader of the Udenu Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Odoh; the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Dr. Jude Ukwueze; and the Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Chief Basil Obetta. Others in attendance included the Senior Special Assistant on Security, Mr. Hillary Udeagha; the Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Onyekachi C. Ugwu; the Consultant to the Local Government on Revenue, Dr. Chidiebere Nnamani; and the Technical Assistant to the Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Ugwuonah.

Security agencies were well represented at the meeting, with the Udenu Area Police Commander, ACP Bernard Ukwa, making a heartfelt appeal for peace and unity among the Neighborhood Watch operatives. He was accompanied by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Obollo Police Division, CSP Ignatius Attah, both of whom emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and local Communities to maintain stability.

The Councilor representing Amalla Ward in the Udenu Legislative Council served as the host of the event, alongside the Traditional Rulers, ensuring that all key stakeholders had the opportunity to voice their concerns and propose solutions.

Throughout the deliberations, various critical stakeholders expressed their perspectives on the root causes of the dispute and suggested pathways toward resolution. After extensive discussions, an amicable agreement was reached, effectively diffusing tensions and fostering a renewed commitment to peace.

Aka Eze, in his closing remarks, urged all parties involved to mend fences and embrace peaceful coexistence for the greater good of the Community. He further announced that the Udenu Local Government Council would ultimately decide on the appointment of the Coordinator of the Neighborhood Watch Security Outfit in Amalla.

The successful resolution of the dispute marks a significant step towards strengthening security and stability in the region, reinforcing the Local Government’s dedication to fostering peace, unity, and effective governance in Udenu LGA.
