The Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Parish, Ada Agu, Very Rev. Fr. Paul Nwonu, on Monday, led a delegation on a courtesy and advocacy visit to the Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, at the Council Secretariat.

Accompanied by Lady Elizabeth Onah (KSJI), a representative of the Parish Council, Fr. Nwonu used the visit to reaffirm the Church’s prayerful solidarity with the Chairman and his administration. He assured the Chairman that the Parish continually intercedes for the progress, peace, and success of his leadership in the daily celebration of the Holy Mass.

The Parish Priest also used the occasion to draw the Chairman’s attention to the ongoing renovation of the dilapidated Parish House at Ada Agu. He expressed deep concern over the urgent need to complete the project before the onset of the rainy season, for failure to do so could lead to the total collapse of the structure.

“The Parish House is in dire need of renovation, and if we do not complete it before the rains set in, the entire building may be destroyed. We appeal to you, Mr. Chairman, to intervene in any way possible to save this project,” Fr. Nwonu pleaded.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Chairman, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Rt. Hon. Chika Aroh, expressed profound appreciation to the Parish Priest for his spiritual intercessions and support for the Council.

He assured them that their message would be delivered promptly to the Chairman, who, he noted, remains committed to supporting religious institutions and community-driven initiatives.

“The Chairman deeply values the role of the Church in fostering peace, unity, and development in our Local Government. Your prayers and goodwill are highly appreciated. Be assured that your request will be conveyed to him, and he will treat it with the urgency it deserves,” Rt. Hon. Aroh stated.

The visit underscores the strong relationship between the Church and the government in Udenu LGA, reinforcing the spirit of partnership in promoting Community development and moral guidance.
