In a bid to uphold Gov. Peter Mbah’s mandate of spearheading innovative and transformative development in Enugu State, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Chidiebere Onyia, conducted an emergency working visit to Ogbodu Aba Community in Udenu Local Government Area on Wednesday. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the ongoing construction of a state-of-the-art Smart School project, valued at over N500 million.

Prof. Onyia, accompanied by a team of technical Experts and project monitoring Engineers, emphasized the administration’s commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure that aligns with global educational standards. The Udenu Local Government Chairman, Aka Eze Aka, joined the SSG on the visit, underscoring the collaborative efforts between the state and Local Governments to ensure the project’s successful implementation.

During the inspection, Onyia engaged extensively with the site Engineer, seeking detailed updates on the progress of the project. He summoned handymen and Labourers working at the site to ensure they are adhering to terms of contract.

He highlighted the importance of adhering to the project’s specifications and maintaining the set deadlines. Stressing the need for precision and efficiency, the SSG urged the construction team to prioritize quality while working within the stipulated timeline to ensure the Smart School becomes operational without delays.

“The government is fully committed to transforming the educational landscape of Enugu State,” Prof. Onyia remarked. “This Smart School project is a testament to our dedication to providing our children with access to cutting-edge educational facilities that will prepare them for a competitive global future.”

The visit also featured a directive to the Councilor representing Ogbodu Aba, who was instructed by the SSG to closely monitor the project’s progress. Prof. Onyia urged him to ensure regular updates and seamless communication between the community and the state government, guaranteeing accountability and transparency throughout the construction process.

Speaking on behalf of the Udenu Local Government, Chairman Aka Eze Aka lauded the state government’s vision for prioritizing rural communities in its development agenda. He described the Smart School project as a transformative initiative that would enhance access to quality education for children in Ogbodu Aba and neighboring communities.

Residents of the Ogbodu Aba Community expressed their gratitude to the state government for the initiative, noting that the project would have far-reaching benefits for the socio-economic development of the area.

The N500 million Smart School project, once completed, is expected to feature modern classrooms, advanced ICT facilities, and innovative learning tools aimed at fostering digital literacy and academic excellence. It stands as part of the Enugu State government’s broader strategy to revolutionize education and create opportunities for the younger generation to thrive in a knowledge-driven economy.

This visit reinforces the administration’s commitment to ensuring all development projects are executed to the highest standards and that no community in the state is left behind in the push for sustainable progress.
