The Udenu Local Government Development and Investment Agency was formally inaugurated today, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, by the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Aka Eze Aka. This is a major step toward fostering inclusive development and attracting sustainable investment to the Local Government Area.
The ceremony, which was presided over by the Chairman marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Council’s efforts to drive local economic growth, create jobs, and enhance infrastructural and social development at the grassroots.
The Agency was established by a Bye-law recently enacted by the Udenu Legislative Council to serve as a strategic body responsible for coordinating, promoting, and managing development and investment activities within the Local Government Area.
In his address during the inauguration, Aka Eze Aka emphasized that the establishment of the Agency was in line with his administration’s vision of transforming Udenu into an economic hub of Enugu North Senatorial District. He noted that development begins at the grassroots, and therefore, local governments must take proactive steps to attract investors, harness local resources, and promote public-private partnerships.

“The Udenu Development and Investment Agency is a deliberate step toward repositioning our local economy,” the Chairman said. “We want to create a system that not only encourages private investment but also ensures transparency, accountability, and sustainability in all developmental engagements.”
The newly inaugurated Board of Directors of the Agency comprises respected professionals, technocrats, and community leaders drawn from various sectors. The members include:

The Udenu Local Government Development and Investment Agency is tasked with the development and implementation of blueprints in the following areas:
— Investment Promotion
— Economic Planning and Development
— Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)
— Project Implementation and Monitoring
— Capacity Building and Youth Empowerment
— Research and Innovation
— Revenue Generation and Financial Management
In his remarks after the inauguration, the Board Chairman, Dr. Chinedu Onu, expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman for the confidence reposed in them and pledged the Board’s total commitment to achieving the objectives of the Agency.
The event was attended by Senior Council officials, Community Leaders, media representatives, and other Stakeholders, all of whom commended the foresight of the Chairman in institutionalizing a body that will serve as a catalyst for local development.
The Udenu Development and Investment Agency is expected to begin operations immediately, with the mandate to produce a comprehensive Development and Investment Roadmap for the Local Government within the next 90 days.
