Tragedy struck the family of the Executive Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, as his elder brother, Mr. Emmanuel Chimaroke Eze, lost his life in a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, along the Ugwuegbe axis of the Obollo Afor–Obollo Eke expressway.
According to eyewitnesses, the Late Mr. Eze was involved in a lone accident while riding a motorcycle, and despite efforts to rush him to the nearest medical facility, he was confirmed dead shortly after arrival. The sudden demise has sent shockwaves across Obollo land and beyond, plunging the entire Community into mourning.
A retired primary school teacher, Mr. Eze was known for his infectious jovial spirit, deep Christian faith, and passionate involvement in Local football development. He was a respected grassroots Coach, nurturing young talents in his Community and promoting unity through sports. As the third son in a family of seven, his life embodied humility, and service.

In a deeply emotional farewell held this morning at his family compound in Obollo Eke, a concelebrated requiem Mass was offered in his honour at exactly 9:30 AM. The Mass was presided over by the Dean of Obollo Eke Deanery and Parish Priest of St. Martin De Porres Parish, Rev. Fr. Jude Eze, who extolled the late teacher’s virtues, describing him as “a man who taught not only with chalk but with his life of love, discipline, and cheer.”

At exactly 11:30 AM, the remains of Mr. Emmanuel Eze was lowered to his final resting place amid heavy sobs and heartfelt lamentations from family, friends, and sympathizers. His grieving wife and kid, clad in mourning garb, led the family in the emotionally charged dust-to-dust rites, sealing his return to mother earth.
The burial attracted a cross-section of sympathisers, including top political figures, Community leaders, and close associates of the bereaved Chairman. Notable among them were:
Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, Executive Chairman of Igbo Eze South Local Government Area, Hon. Jude Amunabo, Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Youths and Mobilization, Hon. Meletus Onah, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Udenu LGA, several Councillors and aides of the Executive Chairman, Aka Eze Aka.
In their separate condolence messages, they expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss, commending the deceased for his contributions to education, community development, and youth empowerment.

After the burial, a brief reception was held at the family compound, where guests were entertained in a sombre but reflective atmosphere. The event provided a moment for mourners to share memories of the late teacher, with many describing him as a man whose laughter filled every room he entered and whose commitment to the well-being of others was unmatched.
As the Eze family comes to terms with this heartbreaking loss, tributes continue to pour in from across the State, honouring the memory of a man whose life, though abruptly cut short, was a beacon of light in his Community.
Mr. Emmanuel Chimaroke Eze is survived by his wife, kid, siblings, and extended family, who have all vowed to uphold the legacy of compassion, diligence, and humility he left behind.
