In a bid to strengthen partnerships and advocate for infrastructure development, the Obollo Nkwo Stakeholders Association of Nigeria (OSWAN), an umbrella body representing development advocacy groups and elites of Obollo Nkwo Community in Udenu Local Government Area, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Udenu LGA, Aka Eze Aka, in his office yesterday.
The delegation, led by OSWAN Coordinator, Ambassador Hon. Chief Great Ikechukwu Ugwuoke (PG OSWAN), comprised high-ranking members, including Comrade Tim. Eneje, Rt. Hon. Ugochukwu Nwodo, Chief Emeka Ogbu (popularly known as Dangote), Chief Ejike Onah, Chief Ugo Ogbonna, and Engr. Ifeanyi Ugwuokpe.
During the visit, the group congratulated Aka Eze Aka on his remarkable achievements within a short period in office. They expressed their readiness to collaborate with the Council in advancing infrastructure development in Obollo Nkwo. The delegation highlighted OSWAN’s efforts in facilitating rural electrification, provision of boreholes, and road construction in underdeveloped villages across the community.
One of the group’s key advocacy points was a plea for the connecting of the Ndabru-Afube community in the National electricity grid. They emphasized the need for this project as a critical step toward enhancing the quality of life and fostering economic growth in the area.
Responding to the delegation, Hon. Aka Eze Aka expressed gratitude to OSWAN for their support and commended their proactive efforts in driving Community development. He assured the group that their request for the electrification of Ndabru-Afube would be met, as it has already been captured in the Udenu Local Government fiscal budget for 2025. He further revealed that the budget also includes electrification projects for Odoru and Ulon’Umuagu communities of Obollo Nkwo.
The Chairman emphasized the commitment of the administration to infrastructure development, stating, “We are determined to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that every part of Udenu benefits from developmental projects. The electrification of these communities is a priority, and we will work to actualize it.”
Aka also highlighted the ongoing interest of the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in Udenu’s development. He assured the delegation that the state government is keen on completing the much-needed reconstruction of the Ogwu Obollo Afor–Okpakerekere–Umuitodo–Ibenda–Obollo Eke road. He noted that this project has been a long-standing demand from the people of Udenu and expressed optimism about its successful execution.
The visit underscores the commitment of OSWAN and the Udenu Local Government administration to fostering a collaborative approach toward sustainable development, especially in areas of rural electrification and inland road networks. The interaction also reflects a shared vision for improving infrastructure and quality of life for the people of Obollo Nkwo and beyond.
OSWAN leaders reiterated their readiness to support the Chairman’s administration and work collectively to achieve the developmental goals of the community. The visit ended with both parties expressing optimism about a fruitful partnership for the growth and progress of Udenu LGA.
This advocacy visit marks a significant milestone in the efforts of OSWAN and other development-focused groups in the Obollo Nkwo community, as they continue to champion initiatives aimed at enhancing the living standards of their people.
