Yesterday, the Progressives Movement for Peter Mbah (PM4PM), in a decisive move to consolidate grassroots support ahead of future political engagements, has commenced an aggressive mobilisation campaign across the Enugu North Senatorial District, with a clear focus on expanding its membership base and deepening community engagement.

At a high-level strategic meeting held in Nsukka, the Zonal Coordinator of the Movement in Enugu North, Hon. Ochendo Chikamso Onyishi, convened Ward Coordinators and principal officers from across the zone at his country home. The meeting, described by stakeholders as timely and pivotal, was a huge step toward operationalising the core philosophy of the Movement: which is massive grassroots mobilisation in support of the administration and reelection bid of Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Onyishi emphasized the urgency of translating the Movement’s vision into tangible action at the grassroots level. He charged the Coordinators to immediately begin intensive sensitisation campaigns in their respective Wards and Communities, stressing the need to effectively communicate the achievements and transformative governance strides of Governor Mbah to the people.

According to him, “Our mission is clear; to take the message of good governance to the grassroots. Every Coordinator here must become an ambassador of this Movement, engaging directly with the people in our villages, educating them on why they must be part of this Progressives family.”

He further highlighted the benefits of membership in PM4PM, noting that the Movement is not only politically strategic but also socially impactful, with plans for empowerment and capacity-building initiatives designed to improve livelihoods.

The meeting culminated in the adoption of key resolutions aimed at fast-tracking the Movement’s objectives across all six Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the zone.

Key Resolutions and Action Points

Membership Drive: Each Local Government Area is mandated to register a minimum of 1,000 members on or before April 3, indicating the urgency of expanding the Movement’s grassroots reach.

Skill Acquisition and Empowerment: LGAs are to submit 15 nominees each for skill acquisition programmes, which will be followed by empowerment initiatives aimed at fostering economic self-reliance among beneficiaries.

Media and Communication Strategy: To strengthen information dissemination and public engagement, each LGA is to nominate 10 individuals to form a dedicated media team that will coordinate publicity and digital outreach efforts.

Local Council Visitations: The schedule for Local Government Council visitations by the Movement’s leadership will be communicated through official WhatsApp platforms, ensuring seamless coordination and participation.

Mass Mobilisation for Events: Each LGA is expected to mobilise no fewer than 5,000 participants to attend and support the forthcoming Council visitations, demonstrating widespread grassroots backing.

Observers note that the resolutions reflect a well-structured and results-driven approach, combining political mobilisation with socio-economic incentives to galvanise support across communities.

Political analysts have also described the initiative as a strategic consolidation effort that could significantly reshape grassroots political dynamics in Enugu North, particularly as it aligns with Governor Mbah’s governance philosophy centred on development, inclusivity, and citizen engagement.

The heavily-attended meeting ended on a note of unity and commitment, with Coordinators pledging to return to their respective LGAs with a clear mandate to deliver on the outlined targets.

As PM4PM intensifies its activities, all eyes will be on the Enugu North Senatorial District to gauge the impact of this mobilisation drive and its implications for the broader political landscape in Enugu State.
