Former Caretaker Chairman of Udenu Local Government Council, Hon. Onyekachi C. Ugwu, popularly known as Ahmed, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Nigeria Police School of Nursing Sciences, Ezimo, in Enugu State.
Hon. Ugwu, who hails from Ezimo, described the approval as “a monumental milestone that will forever redefine the educational and healthcare landscape of his community and Enugu State at large.” He also commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for what he called “a priceless gift and a legacy of progress to the people of Ezimo.”
“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for graciously approving and signing into force the Nigeria Police School of Nursing Sciences in Ezimo,” Ugwu said. “It is indeed a dream come true and a clear evidence of the President’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and healthcare across Nigeria.”

The former Udenu Council boss noted that the establishment of the institution marks a new dawn for the people of Ezimo, as it will bring far-reaching benefits in education, healthcare, and economic development.

“With this approval, the doors to enhanced educational opportunities are now wide open for our people,” he stated. “Young men and women from Ezimo and neighboring Communities will now have the privilege to pursue professional training in nursing and midwifery without the need to travel long distances.”
Hon. Ugwu emphasized that the presence of the Police School of Nursing Sciences in Ezimo will not only produce qualified healthcare professionals but also improve the quality of medical services in the region.
“Nurses and midwives are highly sought-after professionals worldwide,” he explained. “The shortage of skilled healthcare personnel has been a major challenge in our area. With this institution now within reach, we expect a significant improvement in local healthcare delivery and overall wellbeing.”
He further highlighted the project’s economic impact, noting that it will stimulate local development, create jobs, and foster small businesses in Ezimo.
“The establishment of the school will undoubtedly stimulate economic growth. It will create employment opportunities and boost commerce through the influx of students, staff, and visitors. This is an economic stimulus that will have a lasting positive impact on our people,” Ugwu added.
The former Council Caretaker Chairman, lauded IGP Egbetokun for his leadership and vision in advancing educational development within the Nigeria Police Force, describing the approval as “a forward-thinking initiative that blends security, education, and community development.”
“We sincerely thank the Inspector-General of Police for this historic gift to Ezimo,” Ugwu said. “It shows that under his watch, the Police Force is not only strengthening internal security but also investing in human capital and national development.”
Hon. Ugwu concluded by reaffirming the gratitude of the Ezimo community, describing the development as “a legacy project that will outlive generations and position Ezimo as a hub for healthcare training in Nigeria.”

The Nigeria Police School of Nursing Sciences, Ezimo, recently approved by President Tinubu, is expected to serve as a specialized institution for the training of nurses and midwives under the Nigeria Police Force. The school aims to boost professional standards in nursing education and contribute to Nigeria’s broader healthcare development goals.
