The Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, has intensified the war against insecurity in the Council Area with a high-level expanded security summit held behind closed doors on Tuesday.
The meeting, convened amid a recent spike in security concerns including cases of kidnapping in parts of Udenu, was attended by the Enugu State Commissioner of Police (represented by the DC OPs, Itobore Gregory), the CSO to the Governor of Enugu State, the Area Commander of Udenu Area Command, Orba, and the Divisional Police Officer, Obollo Afor. Presidents-General of select Town Unions in the Local Government were also in attendance.
During the summit, the representative of the Commissioner of Police delivered a stern address, warning criminal elements to steer clear of Udenu and Enugu State, or face the full wrath of the law. He assured residents that the Police Command remains committed and fully mobilized to restore peace in all affected communities.
In a decisive move to motivate community-driven intelligence, Chairman Aka Eze Aka announced a ₦5 million bounty for any individual who provides credible information leading to the arrest of those behind recent kidnappings and related crimes in the area.
“To reclaim our peace and secure our people, every responsible citizen must be involved,” Aka declared. “No criminal has a stake in Udenu. We are determined to flush them out completely.”
A dedicated hotline, 08076045030 was unveiled to the public for reporting actionable security intelligence directly to operatives.
In a related development, the Council Chairman effected a strategic reshuffle in his security advisory structure to enhance operational efficiency. The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Chairman on Security, Hon. Hillary Egbeigwe, has been reassigned as SSA on Transport, while Mr. Godwin Chukwuma Ogbuagu has been appointed as the new SSA on Security.
Sources at the meeting disclosed that the summit reviewed current security strategies and developed fresh approaches to strengthen surveillance, boost inter-community collaboration, and increase rapid response to threats.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies as government intensifies operations to eliminate insecurity in Udenu.
