At the tape-cutting of the Smart School
Today, in a historic state visit, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, accompanied by the National Security Advisor (NSA) and Minister of Works — Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Sen. Dave Umahi, respectively, touched down at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, by approximately 13:30 hours (01:30PM local time). This visit marked the President’s first official engagement in the South East region and the country this year.
Mr. President was warmly received by his Chief Host, Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, alongside members of the Enugu State Executive Council, Local Government Chairmen, and members of the South East Governors Forum. The atmosphere was electric as Ndi Enugu turned out in large numbers, chanting praises for Gov. Mbah and celebrating his transformative leadership.
Immediately upon his arrival, President Tinubu proceeded to the New Haven Roundabout, a prominent T-junction in the state capital, for the commissioning of the landmark renovation project. This was followed by the inauguration of the GTC Green Smart School, one of 30 newly completed schools in Enugu State under an ambitious educational initiative spearheaded by Governor Mbah. The project aims to deliver 256 Green Smart Schools across the state, equipped with cutting-edge facilities to foster a sustainable learning environment.
The GTC Green Smart School represents the administration’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation in education. The commissioning of these projects underscores the rapid infrastructural and developmental strides achieved by Governor Mbah’s administration within just 18 months in office.
Among the plethora of completed projects commissioned by Tinubu are 313 Kilometers roads, the ultramodern Enugu International Conference Centre, and the State Command and Control Security Centre etc.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu lauded Governor Mbah’s efforts, describing his achievements as visionary leadership and a model for other states to emulate. He emphasized the federal government’s commitment to supporting state-led initiatives that align with national development goals.
Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the President for his visit and the recognition of Enugu’s progress. He reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue pursuing transformative projects in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development to uplift the lives of Ndi Enugu.
The Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, who served as the Master of Ceremony, commended Governor Mbah’s leadership. In a statement, released yesterday through his Media Office, he described the Governor as a trailblazer who has redefined governance in Enugu State.
The colorful event saw a blend of cultural displays and festivities, reflecting the pride and unity of Ndi Enugu. President Tinubu’s visit not only reinforced federal-state collaboration but also highlighted the South East region’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
As the President departed Enugu, he left behind an air of optimism and renewed commitment to national unity and development, with the state poised to maintain its trajectory of growth and excellence.
