Yesterday, in a historic and symbolic unveiling, the Udenu Local Government Council officially launched its monthly publication, the Udenu Newsletter, during the grand celebration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s second anniversary in office. The event, held at the iconic Okpala Square, drew dignitaries, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and enthusiastic citizens from across Enugu State.
The debut edition of the Udenu Newsletter stood out as the only documented grassroots journal paying tribute to Governor Peter Mbah’s transformative infrastructural achievements across the hinterlands. It offered an in-depth reportage of projects under the visionary leadership of Aka Eze Aka (who is the vicar of the Governor in the Local Government) including highlights of state-wide interventions and grassroots collaborations that have redefined development narratives, especially in Udenu Local Government Area.
Most notably, the publication featured the Peter Mbah—Udenu League 2025, a grassroots football tournament that concluded this month to much acclaim. The tournament, championed by Aka, served as both a recreational and youth empowerment initiative aligned with Governor Mbah’s administration’s commitment to human capital development.
Also chronicled in the newsletter were landmark efforts by the Udenu Local Government Council under the stewardship of Aka. From infrastructural upgrades and primary healthcare improvements to youth empowerment and digital innovation in governance, the publication gave readers a panoramic view of the Council’s grassroots impact over the past months.
The first edition also featured pages of congratulatory messages and goodwill remarks from traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders, and well-meaning individuals in Udenu. Their voices echoed a shared sentiment: profound appreciation for Governor Mbah’s meritorious service, courageous policies, and people-centric governance in the past two years.
Distributed to a selected group of attendees at the ceremony, the newsletter was warmly received. Participants described it as “insightful,” “timely,” and “a welcome innovation in grassroots governance.”
As Governor Peter Mbah marked his second year in office, the event not only celebrated state-level accomplishments but also spotlighted the indispensable role of Local Councils like Udenu in translating policies into palpable grassroots development.
The Udenu Newsletter is now set to become a regular publication that will document, preserve, and project the narratives of grassroots transformation in Udenu, offering a template for other LGAs in Enugu State and across Nigeria.
