The Executive Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Hon. Aka Eze Aka, has approved the appointment of Longinus Nnabugo Makata(from Imilike Ward) as the Senior Special Assistant on Water Resources. The appointment which takes immediate effect from April 1, 2025 was made in a significant move to bolster water resource management and sustainable development at the grassroots level.
This was formally conveyed in an official letter dated April 11, 2025, and signed by the Secretary of the Udenu Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Chika Aroh.
Mr. Nnabugo brings to the role a rich and diverse professional background spanning data analytics, international sales, and public interest advocacy. He previously served as a Data Analyst at the Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA)—a non-governmental organization that works to promote human rights and rehabilitation of inmates across Nigeria. At PRAWA, he was instrumental in streamlining data management systems and strengthening evidence-based advocacy strategies, thereby reinforcing the organization’s impact and operational transparency.
In addition to his civil society engagement, Nnabugo has gained international experience working with Amazon as a Sales Representative in the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, respectively. In these roles, he demonstrated exceptional competence in market research, customer relations, and corporate communication, skills that are expected to be pivotal in his new political assignment.
His appointment is a strategic step by the Aka Eze Aka-led administration to address the pressing challenges surrounding water access, quality, and management in Udenu LGA. With some Communities in the Local Government often facing erratic water supply, poor infrastructure, and environmental concerns, Nnabugo is expected to provide technical insights, policy support, and grassroots engagement to advance the Chairman’s water reform agenda.
In the appointment letter, the Udenu Council Secretary expressed optimism that the Council will “benefit immensely” from Nnabugo’s experience and hard work in discharging his duties.
Reacting to his appointment, Mr. Nnabugo expressed gratitude to the Chairman for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to serve with dedication and accountability. “Water is life, and ensuring clean, safe, and accessible water for our people is a cause I am deeply committed to. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to deliver real change in Udenu,” he said.
With his multidimensional background and proven commitment to service, Mr. Longinus’ appointment is widely seen as a laudable decision that signals the Chairman’s resolve to prioritize competence and innovation in addressing grassroots developmental issues.
