The last ten months has been hectic for me and few other pivotal individuals who were assembled to bring to life, the dream of a renowned investor who had interest in alleviating school admission burden of students in Nsukka land. We worked round the clock to meet strict deadline and deliver on the project. And at the end of September, it was el-dorado! A brand new College of Nursing with its affiliate tertiary hospital is established in Nigeria, and I am here today to describe the genius project.
In an era where quality healthcare is paramount, the need for exceptional nursing education has never been more critical. La Vera College of Nursing Sciences, strategically located in the heart of Nsukka, Enugu State, emerges as a beacon of hope and excellence in Nursing and Midwifery training in Nigeria. With state-of-the-art facilities and a commitment to producing highly skilled healthcare professionals, La Vera is not just a College; it is a nurturing ground for the next generation of caregivers dedicated to improving health outcomes in their communities.
It is fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and approved by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMoH&SW), ensuring that the institution meets the highest standards in nursing education. The College also boasts an ultra-modern infrastructure equipped with a sophisticated Basic Science Lab and demonstration rooms tailored for both Nursing and Midwifery. Such an environment allows students to engage in hands-on learning, fostering practical skills essential for their future careers.
An impressive library, replete with an E-Library, offers students the resources they need to delve into research and expand their knowledge base, reflecting the institution’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning. Complementing these academic resources is the provision of unlimited Internet access and uninterrupted power supply, supported by a 30KVA solar power system, which is vital in today’s technology-driven educational landscape. The presence of a steady water supply from an industrial borehole further enhances the College’s infrastructure, ensuring that students have all they need to thrive.
The strength of any educational institution lies in its faculty, and La Vera College is no exception. It is adequately staffed with highly qualified academic and non-academic personnel, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in Nursing and Midwifery education. Furthermore, La Vera’s affiliation with the La Vera College Hospital and Diagnostics Ltd, a 96-bedded facility located just five minutes from the college, offers students invaluable clinical experience. The establishment of La Vera College is particularly significant in the context of Nsukka and its surrounding cultural zone, which historically has only one College of Nursing.
