This is not the first time it is coming . Past administrations of the Local Government has tried their best to gift our people a great sporting festivals. However, what makes this one look like first-ever league is due to its unique set. It is not only about competition; it embodies an extraordinary opportunity for young talents to showcase their abilities, represent their wards with pride, and potentially step onto the international stage.
Youth sports have long served as a cornerstone for individual development and community identity, providing a platform for camaraderie, discipline, and personal growth. As Hon. Loyd Ekweremadu, the Commissioner for Youth and Sport, aptly states, “Sports is a catalyst for societal change, bridging gaps and transforming lives.” It is precisely this ethos that the Peter Mbah-Udenu League seeks to promote. With the backing of visionary leaders like the Chairman of Udenu LGA, Aka Eze Aka, and the dedicated efforts of Mr. Henry Eze, the Senior Special Assistant on Youths & Sports, the league is meticulously organized to ensure not only competitive spirit but also comprehensive support for the players involved.
The unique format of the league, encompassing all ten Political Wards of Udenu LGA, promises to spotlight untapped talent residing in communities ranging from Udunedem to Amalla, Obollo Afor to Ezimo, and beyond. Rangers International football club Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, (a good friend of Udenu Mayor) and a team of professional Scouters will be on ground for the first time in our history to pick our brothers who demonstrate exceptional talents in the game during the tournament.
