A new, youth-driven political initiative, the “Progressive Youths for Tomorrow Is Here Movement,” has been officially launched in the Enugu North Senatorial Zone. The movement marks a significant step in fostering grassroots mobilization and enhancing civic awareness throughout the state.
The pioneering effort is led by Hon. Ochendo Chikamso Onyishi, who serves as the Zonal Leader and Coordinator, alongside Hon. Tony Okonkwo, the Personal Assistant to the Governor and the National Chairman of the movement.
During the launch ceremony, the leadership unveiled a comprehensive strategic roadmap detailing the movement’s vision, mission, and core objectives. The event garnered enthusiastic participation from community leaders, youth representatives, and key political stakeholders, all united by a common goal: to amplify public awareness of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s achievements and ongoing reforms in Enugu State.

The Progressive Youths for Tomorrow Is Here Movement is structured to operate as a dynamic, grassroots network with a dual focus of civic enlightenment and political mobilization.
In the area of civic enlightenment, the movement will actively disseminate information on Governor Mbah’s developmental agenda across critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, technology, and human capital development. A key initial priority is to drive a robust voter registration campaign to ensure an empowered and inclusive electorate.
In the area of political mobilization, the movement, building on the foundation of awareness, will serve as a core mobilization structure in support of Governor Mbah’s re-election bid in the 2027 General Elections, ensuring that grassroots communities are fully informed, engaged, and ready to participate in the democratic process.
In his keynote address, Hon. Ochendo Chikamso Onyishi described the movement as “a new energy for a progressive tomorrow.” He emphasized the imperative for the youth to take ownership of the state’s transformation narrative and called on the people of Enugu North senatorial zone to consolidate their support for Governor Mbah’s administration through 2027 and beyond.
Echoing this sentiment, other speakers affirmed that the movement transcends conventional politics. They stressed its broader purpose is to anchor good governance and ensure the continuity of exemplary leadership in Enugu State.
With this launch, Enugu North Zone has set a precedent for a youthful, inclusive, and visionary political awakening; one dedicated to the principles of progress, unity, and the collective pursuit of a more prosperous Enugu State under Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership.
