Mr. Chika Candidus Aroh from Umundu, Udunedem Ward has been sworn in today as the Secretary to Udenu Local Government (SLG). The oath of office was administered by Barr. Ikechukwu Eze at precisely 12 noon, marking the first major statutory appointment following the inauguration of the Local Government Legislative Council just three days ago.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the office of the Executive Chairman of the Local Government — Aka Eze Aka who witnessed it in person. It was a brief exercise which had moderate audience among whom are notable dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman of Udenu LGA — Hon. Mrs. Onyinye Odoh, the Traditional Ruler of the new SLG, HRH Igwe Martin Oguegbulam Agbo (Ugochinyere I of Ifuama Umundu). Also in attendance were Onyekachi C. Ugwu, and Hon. Norbert Chinweuba, former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Udunedem Ward, and few other political stakeholders.
In his brief but poignant remarks after taking the oath of office, Mr. Aroh pledged to serve with diligence and commitment to the administration’s goals, stressing his readiness to contribute positively to the growth and development of the Udenu. “I am fully committed to ensuring that the ideals of this administration are realized for the greater good of Udenu and its people,” Mr. Aroh stated.
In his address, the Executive Chairman, Aka Eze Aka, congratulated the newly sworn-in Secretary and urged him to remain steadfast in upholding the principles of good governance. He emphasized that Mr. Aroh’s leadership would be instrumental in implementing the vision of the administration, especially with regard to Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership mantra, “Tomorrow is here,” which focuses on sustainable development and the realization of tangible outcomes for the people of Udenu.
The swearing-in of Mr. Aroh as Secretary is considered a pivotal moment for the current administration in the Local Government, being the first major formal statutory appointment since the Local Government Legislative Council’s inauguration. It sets the tone for future appointments and governance in the area, as the local leadership continues to strive toward achieving its vision for progress and prosperity.
In his Capacity as the SLG Aroh becomes the chief administrative officer of the Local Government and provides leadership in the day-to-day administration of the Local Council. He will ensure that decisions made by the Local Government Council are implemented effectively.
He will be responsible for coordinating the activities of various departments and units within the Local Government, ensuring that all are aligned with the council’s goals and objectives.
He will also play an advisory role to the Chairman of the Local Government Council and other officials on administrative, legal, and policy matters. He will also provide guidance on the implementation of government policies at the local level.
