In a landslide victory that has redefined the political landscape ahead of the November 8, 2025 gubernatorial elections in Anambra State, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, fondly known as Ikukuoma, has emerged as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC governorship primary election, which was held earlier today under strict adherence to party guidelines and the supervision of the party’s electoral committee, saw an overwhelming show of support for Ukachukwu. He clinched the ticket with a commanding 1,455 votes, decisively defeating three other contenders.
His closest rival, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, a former PDP stalwart and business executive, polled 67 votes. Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo secured 26 votes, while Edozie Mmadu managed to garner 8 votes. A total of 26 votes were declared invalid.

The announcement of Ukachukwu’s victory sparked jubilation among party faithful and supporters across the state, many of whom have long viewed him as a formidable candidate with the experience, vision, and grassroots appeal to deliver governance that works for all Anambra residents.
Speaking shortly after his victory, Prince Dr. Ukachukwu expressed gratitude to the delegates, party leadership, and his fellow aspirants for what he described as “a democratic, transparent, and peaceful process.” He pledged to unify the APC in Anambra and take the party into the November elections with renewed strength and focus.
“This is not just my victory; it is a victory for all members of our great party and the people of Anambra who desire a new direction. I salute my fellow aspirants for their sportsmanship, and I call on them to join hands with me as we move into the general election season,” Ukachukwu said.
Political analysts have noted that Ukachukwu’s victory signals a serious challenge to APGA, the ruling party in Anambra. With a robust network of supporters, deep political experience, and a background in public service and philanthropy, he is widely regarded as a strong contender for the governorship seat.
As the APC standard bearer, Ikukuoma will now face candidates from other political parties (especially the incumbent Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo) in what is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched governorship elections in Nigeria.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Anambra Governorship Election for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
For now, all eyes are on Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu as he begins the next phase of his campaign — uniting the party, reaching out to the electorate, and presenting his vision for a prosperous, secure, and inclusive Anambra State.
