Yesterday, in a show of solidarity, nostalgia, and goodwill, a high-powered delegation of the Old Boys Association of Boys High School (now Command Day Secondary School), Orba, Udenu Local Government Area, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Udenu LGA, Aka Eze Aka, on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The visit took place at the Council Secretariat in Obollo Afor.

The distinguished delegation was led by the Coordinator of the Association, Chief Sabinus Ogbodo, a respected community leader and one of the institution’s most illustrious alumni. Also among the delegation was Hon. Basil Obetta, the Pioneer Senior Prefect of the School and currently the Special Personal Assistant on Project Implementation to Udenu Local Government.

The visit was deeply symbolic, as Aka Eze Aka is himself a prominent member of the alumni body. The Association described the visit as a fraternal call to celebrate one of their own who has risen to a position of public leadership and trust. According to the group, it was important to collectively thank God for the elevation of their member and to identify with him in his ongoing efforts to transform Udenu.

In his remarks, Chief Sabinus Ogbodo noted that the Association was proud of Aka’s leadership and commitment to grassroots development. He recalled the formative years of the school, which produced many distinguished citizens now serving in various sectors, and praised the Chairman for upholding the values of integrity and excellence instilled by their alma mater.

Hon. Basil Obetta, speaking as both a Pioneer student leader and a key aide to the Chairman, emphasized the emotional significance of the visit. “This is a homecoming. It’s a reaffirmation that wherever life takes us, our roots remain important,” he stated.

The group commended Hon. Aka for his outstanding performance since assuming office, particularly his people-oriented policies and infrastructural projects across the Local Government Area. They also used the opportunity to commend the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his visionary leadership and near-perfect administrative policies, especially in the areas of education, health, infrastructure, and innovation.

In his response, Hon. Aka Eze Aka expressed deep gratitude to his fellow Old Boys for the visit, describing it as both humbling and inspiring. He reflected on his days as a student at Orba Boys Secondary School and affirmed that the values learned in those early years had shaped his public service ethos.

The meeting ended on a warm note with group photographs and the exchange of fraternal pleasantries. The event also featured a brief moment of light refreshment, where members of the delegation and the Chairman shared stories of their school days, laughter, and mutual encouragement.

The visit marks another reminder of the enduring bonds of old school networks and the role such Association can play in promoting community development and accountable leadership.
