The Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Caleb Onyema Ani, has called for widespread participation in the forthcoming Awkunanaw Clan Mega Rally organised in honour of the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

In a statement released by the Enugu South Local Government Media Office, the Chairman appealed to indigenes and residents across Amechi, Amechi Uno, Amechi Uwani, Akwuke, Akwuke Uwani, Obeagu, Obeagu Uno, Ugwuaji, and Obeagu-Ugwuaji, as well as town unions, youth organisations, and women’s groups, to turn out in large numbers for the event.

He described the rally as both symbolic and strategic, noting that it is intended not only to honour the Governor but also to collectively acknowledge what he characterised as “people-oriented governance” and developmental strides recorded across Awkunanaw communities.

Rt. Hon. Ani highlighted ongoing improvements in infrastructure and public services under the current administration, citing road connectivity projects, the introduction of smart green schools, efforts to strengthen local security frameworks, enhancements in primary healthcare delivery, agricultural support initiatives, and the development of the Gariki Ultra Modern Bus Terminal.

He further referenced the inclusion of Awkunanaw indigenes in political appointments as a factor contributing to increased representation in governance.

According to the Chairman, these initiatives have had tangible impacts on livelihoods and public confidence, while positioning the area for broader socio-economic advancement.

He added that the rally would serve as a platform for the Awkunanaw Clan to express collective support and solidarity with the state government, particularly as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 electoral cycle.

He emphasised that the event represents an opportunity for the people to articulate unity of purpose and reaffirm their engagement in the governance process.

The Chairman also underscored the historical identity of Awkunanaw as a people rooted in unity and resilience, stating that a strong turnout would reflect these enduring values.

The Awkunanaw Clan Mega Rally is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Awkunanaw Civic Center, Akpasha, Akegbe Ugwu in Nkanu West Local Government Area, commencing at 10:00 a.m.

Residents, stakeholders, and supporters have been encouraged to attend.
