The Umuada Obollo Association of Nigeria, (Adabuihe), has announced a landmark home-coming event designed to celebrate the heritage, unity and developmental aspirations of Obollo land, while rallying its people and friends around a collective vision for progress.
Scheduled for the last weekend of December 2025, the two-day programme is carefully structured to blend culture, wellness, recognition of excellence and community mobilisation, reflecting the enduring role of Umuada (daughters of the land) as custodians of values, conscience and development in Igbo society.
The event will commence on Saturday, 27th December 2025, with a colourful and energising road walk. The walk will start from the Udenu Local Government Secretariat, Obollo-Afor, by 09:00AM, and is expected to draw participants from across Obollo communities and beyond. Organisers describe the road walk as more than a ceremonial outing; it is a symbolic and practical call to unity and healthy living. By walking together, participants are expected to visibly demonstrate solidarity and communal strength of Obollo land.
The grand finale will take place on Sunday, 28th December 2025, at 12 noon prompt, at the Udenu Local Government Headquarters, Obollo-Afor. The highlight of the day will be the Icon Award Ceremony, to be held under the theme: “Catalyzing Development in Obollo.” The ceremony will recognise individuals whose leadership, service and investments have contributed meaningfully to the growth and reputation of Obollo, while also inspiring others to play active roles in community development.
The event is expected to attract notable traditional and civic leaders, lending it both cultural depth and institutional significance. The Special Guest of Honour is His Royal Highness, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Ogadagidi I of Edem Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom), who also serves as the Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council. His presence points to the importance of traditional institutions in promoting unity, peace and grassroots development.
Also lending royal weight to the occasion is the Royal Father of the Day, His Royal Highness, Igwe Remigius Ogbuishi the Ekpo II of Ibenda. The Chairman of the Occasion is Mr. Evaristus Ikechukwu Odoh, MD/CEO of Kenevic Nig. Ltd, whose role highlights the critical link between private sector leadership and community advancement.
According to the leadership of the Association, the home-coming is a strategic platform for reflection, reconnection and action. In a statement jointly endorsed by the President, Ezinne Ngozi Ugwu, the Organising Secretary, Mrs. Eze Ndidi Samuel, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mrs. Gloria Eze, and the Founder, Deaconess Ngozi Ayogu, the Association emphasised that the event represents “a call to purpose and the thematic progress of Obollo.”
The importance of the event lies in its timing and intent. Coming at a period when communities face economic pressures, social fragmentation and developmental challenges, the Umuada Obollo home-coming offers a unifying space to renew bonds, celebrate common identity and collectively reimagine the future of Obollo land.
