The Udenu Legislative Council has taken decisive disciplinary actions against its immediate past House Leader, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Odoh, and Rt. Hon. Daniel Aroh for conduct deemed inimical to legislative decorum and governance ethics.

The resolutions were reached following a smooth plenary session held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Udenu Legislative Council Hall. The Council, in exercising its constitutional authority, deliberated extensively on recent disruptions that had hindered the smooth functioning of legislative affairs.
In a statement issued at the end of the plenary, the leadership of the Legislative Council reaffirmed its commitment to peace, progressive governance, and collaboration with the Executive Chairman, Aka Eze Aka, in advancing the development of the Local Government Area.
The Legislators also commended the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his transformative governance and groundbreaking developmental policies. Specifically, they applauded the establishment of ten Smart Schools across Udenu, underscoring the administration’s dedication to educational and human capital development.
Following thorough deliberations, the Council resolved to impose disciplinary measures on two members—Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Odoh and Rt. Hon. Daniel Aroh—citing gross misconduct, insubordination, and breach of legislative ethics. The sanction was meant to serve as deterrent against future occurrence.
Rt. Hon. Daniel Aroh, the Honourable Councillor representing Udunedem Ward and Chairman of the House Committee on Works, was suspended for three months for multiple infractions, including:
Gross Misconduct: Disrupting House proceedings on March 11, 2025, obstructing the Clerk from addressing a matter of urgent public importance.
Insubordination: Defying the authority of the House and causing disorder on the legislative floor.
Contempt of the House: Walking out of a plenary session in blatant disregard for legislative decorum.
Defiance to Leadership: Ignoring directives from the newly elected House Leader, Rt. Hon. Patrick O. Ugwu, when asked to restore order.
The suspension will last for three months, during which Rt. Hon. Aroh will be stripped of all legislative rights and privileges.
More so, beyond his impeachment as House Leader, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Odoh was handed a six-month suspension. The Council found him guilty of multiple breaches, including:
Violent Disruption of Legislative Proceedings: Attempting to obstruct the Clerk from addressing a legislative matter.
Dereliction of Duty: Walking out of plenary while proceedings were in session.
Unauthorized Public Address: Convening a press conference without due consultation with fellow councillors, thereby spreading misleading allegations.
Defamation and Public Misrepresentation: Making unsubstantiated accusations against the Executive Chairman, Aka Eze Aka.
Attempted Usurpation of Authority: Representing himself as House Leader despite the legitimate election of Rt. Hon. Patrick O. Ugwu.
The Council maintained that the disciplinary measures were necessary to preserve the integrity of the legislative arm and ensure that all members adhere to established rules and decorum.
The leadership of the Legislative Council assured Constituents of its steadfast commitment to legislative excellence, transparency, and good governance. It urged the public to disregard misleading narratives from disgruntled elements seeking to destabilize the legislative process.
“We emphasize that this House remains united and focused on enacting policies and resolutions that will advance the collective well-being of our people. These actions were taken in strict adherence to legislative ethics and were necessitated by the need to uphold discipline, order, and respect for the rule of law,” the statement read.
The Council also called on residents of Udenu to remain calm, reassuring them of a reinvigorated Legislative body poised to work collaboratively with the executive arm to drive development and progress in the Local Government Area.
As the dust settles, political analysts are keenly watching how these legislative developments will shape governance in Udenu LGA in the coming months.
