Hon. Irenus Anene Nnaji, the Councillor representing Mbu Ward II in Isi-Uzo LGA, has emerged the Leader of the 2024 Session of Isi-Uzo Legislative Council.
Hon. Irenus Nnaji, the immediate former leader of the Isi-Uzo Legislative Council was re-elected by his Colleagues to lead them for a second time.
The first session of the 2024 assembly of Isi-Uzo Legislative Council followed the transmission of proclamation letter to the Clerk of the House by the Isi-Uzo Council Chairman, Hon. Obiora Obeagu, for the inauguration of the Legislative Council.
Other principal officers elected are Deputy Leader, Hon. Bright Nwodo; Majority Leader, Hon. Nnabuike Ugwu and the Chief Whip of the Isi-Uzo Legislative Council, Hon. Desmond Ugwueji.
The Clerk of the Isi-Uzo Legislative Council, Mr. Emmanuel Odanwu, who conducted the activities for the inauguration of the 2024 session of Isi-Uzo Legislative Council and election of principal officers said the processes were transparent and that the principal officers were elected by their colleagues based on their track records and capacity to lead the Legislative Council.
Isi-Uzo stakeholders, traditional rulers and supporters of the Councillors who stormed the Council headquarters, Ikem, from across the 11 wards of the Council area, to witness the historic moment expressed happiness at the inauguration of the Legislative Council. They praised the returning Councillors for working harmoniously with the Chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA during his first tenure.
They noted that the good relationship was instrumental to what the Council Chairman, Hon. Obiora Obeagu, was able to achieve last time in tackling insecurity and in the area of infrastructure development, among others. They urged the Councillors to do better this time to deliver democracy dividends to Isi-Uzo people and help the Council area make progress.
