The Old Government Lodge Enugu witnessed a significant gathering on Wednesday, as the entire seventeen Local Council Chairmen of the State led their Deputies and Councilors to a crucial workshop aimed at enhancing project management skills for local officials hosted by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
The Udenu contingents were led by the Council Chairman, Aka Eze Aka, alongside his Deputy, Hon. Mrs. Onyinye Odoh and all ten councilors. The event, themed: “Onboarding of Councillors on State Project Management Team For Smart Green Schools and Public Health Centers,” was a huge success.
The workshop served as an essential platform for equipping Local Councilors with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively monitor and manage state initiatives focused on developing smart green schools and improving public health facilities in their communities. Participants engaged in a series of training sessions that covered various aspects of project management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
In his opening remarks, Governor Mbah emphasized the importance of sustainable development and the role of Local Councils in driving change at the grassroots level. He stated, “The training is not just about learning; it’s about fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in our Local Councils. Our vision for Smart Green Schools and Public Health Centers requires dedicated and skilled Leaders who can translate state policies into actionable projects.”
Chairman Aka Eze Aka while speaking to our Media Team in an interview expressed gratitude to the State Government for the initiative, highlighting the need for continuous learning and adaptation in governance. “Today marks a new beginning for Udenu LGA as we embrace innovative approaches to enhance educational and health outcomes in our communities. The knowledge gained here will enable us to better serve our people,” he remarked.
The training program included expert-led sessions on best practices in project management, stakeholder engagement, and the integration of environmental sustainability in public projects. Councilors were encouraged to share experiences and challenges faced in their respective constituencies, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual learning.
The Leader of the immediate past Legislative Council — Hon. Nnamdi Odoh Ph.D echoed the sentiments of the Chairman, highlighting the necessity of building robust health and educational infrastructure. “As local leaders, we owe it to our constituents to ensure that we have the capacity to implement projects that significantly impact their lives. This training aligns perfectly with our goals for Udenu LGA,” he stated.
