Udenu LGA Bids Farewell to Chief (Hon) Aloysius Ochibe

The burial and funeral ceremony of Chief (Hon) Aloysius Ochibe, a revered figure and dedicated party leader within the Udenu Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), took place today in his country home — Igugu with profound tributes from party members, community leaders, family, and friends.

Chief Ochibe, who passed away on August 22 at the age of 74, was remembered fondly for his steadfast commitment to the Party and his significant contributions to the political landscape of Udenu LGA. As a former PDP Chairman of the Udunedem Ward and an integral member of the immediate past Local Government Working Committee, his influence and legacy resonated well within Udenu.

The ceremony brought together numerous party stalwarts within and outside Nsukka zone. The Leader of the Party in the Local Government and Council Chairman — Akachukwu Eze Akachukwu, duly represented by his deputy, Hon. Mrs. Onyinye Odoh, and the Party Chairman, Hon. Meletus Agbo led high-powered delegation of the Party Executives and prominent figures including Hon. Nestor Ezeme and Dr. Ifeanyi Ohabuenyi to pay their last respect. These leaders spearheaded the ceremony, ensuring that Chief Ochibe received the full honors befitting a man of his stature.

The informal funeral procession which wound through the heart of his country home — Umundu/Igugu saw party members, well-wishers, and local residents line the streets to pay their last respects. The burial service took place at his family compound in Igugu.

In their separate condolence messages to the bereaved family, these leaders highlighted the exemplary character and dedication exhibited by Late Chief Ochibe throughout his lifetime. “His name is synonymous with integrity and dedication,” said Hon. Mrs. Onuh. “In these times of sorrow, we call upon the family to reflect on the legacies he left behind. May they find strength in his achievements and the love he fostered within this community.”

Hon. Meletus Onah echoed similar sentiments, remarking on Ochibe’s extraordinary influence in Udenu political leadership. “He was not just a party man; he was a father figure to many. His commitment to service and the betterment of our community will never be forgotten.”

Family members, including his wife, children, and grandchildren, were visibly moved by the outpouring of support, as they embraced the challenge of coping with their loss while celebrating the strong legacy their father instilled in their lives.

The leaders also prayed for the repose of his soul, soliciting divine fortitude to help the family navigate this painful chapter.
