The final journey of the late Prof. D. N. Eze, a distinguished academic and the first indigenous Professor from the Obollo clan, drew eminent personalities, community leaders, and thousands of mourners to Obollo Eke, Udenu Local Government Area, today.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were two top political office holders from Obollo Eke, in the current Enugu State administration; Aka Eze Aka, Executive Chairman of Udenu Local Government Council, and Hon. Solomon Izuchukwu Onah, Member representing Udenu Constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly.

The funeral ceremony witnessed a large turnout of friends, professional colleagues, traditional rulers, clergy, academicians, and government officials who gathered to pay their last respects to a man widely celebrated for his scholarship, humility, and profound impact on community development.
Prof. Eze, a renowned lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), was revered not only for his academic brilliance but also for the inspiration he provided to generations of youths across Obollo land.

Earlier, Aka Eze Aka had shared a deeply personal tribute on his Facebook page, describing the late scholar he fondly calls “Davie Gab,”as “a north star” and “a brother whose legacy shaped my life.” He recounted the bond they shared, the guidance he received, and how the Professor’s humility and intellect influenced his personal journey. “His absence aches, but my heart soars with gratitude for his presence in my life,” he wrote.
In the burial brochure, Hon. Solomon Izuchukwu Onah also penned an emotional tribute, hailing Prof. Eze as “a beacon of wisdom and pride of our people.” He praised him as a symbol of excellence who rose from humble beginnings to global academic relevance without losing touch with his roots. Hon. Onah offered heartfelt condolences to the family and Umuezejor community, affirming that “his legacy lives on in us.”
The respective presence of the two leaders, both natives of the same town as the Late Professor, underscored the deep respect and communal pride Prof. Eze commanded during his lifetime.
As the Community bids farewell, Prof. D. N. Eze’s contributions to education and the intellectual heritage of Obollo land remain indelible.
