The Chairman of Udenu Local Government Council, Hon. Aka Eze Aka, has expressed deep sadness over the passing of the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Sen. Okey Ezea, which death was announced in the early hours of today after a protracted ailment that took him to Europe and beyond.

The Chairman described the late Senator—popularly known as Ideke—as a distinguished son of Enugu North whose life of service, courage, and commitment to the Nsukka people remains exemplary. He noted that Ideke’s journey from Community Primary School, Umachi, through Nsukka High School, to earning degrees in Political Science, Law (LL.B), and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, reflected a life of discipline and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Before his foray into politics, Sen. Ezea made a remarkable mark in the marine business, establishing the reputable Ideke Line. Hon. Aka recalled that long before he became a Senator, Okey Ezea stood firmly for the people, offering support and leadership whenever called upon.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the Senator’s soul and asked God to grant his family, associates, and the entire Enugu North Senatorial District the divine fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
