The Udenu Local Government Area, under the leadership of Chairman Aka Eze Aka, has inaugurated a new Economic Team at the Council Headquarters in Obollo Afor. This was a move aimed at fostering economic growth and promoting good governance.
The inauguration ceremony, presided over by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Chika Aroh, on behalf of the Chairman, marks a pivotal step in repositioning Udenu for sustainable development. The team, dubbed the “Udenu Economic Team,” is described as a “child of necessity,” born out of the urgent need to set the Local Government on the path of even development and enhanced governance.
In a letter addressed to the members, the Chairman outlined the team’s mission as a policy-formulating body tasked with regulation of revenue generation benchmarks, project identification, and economic development. The team is responsible for driving economic policies and programs to reposition Udenu for growth and prosperity.
The specific responsibilities of the team include:
— Designing policies and programs to enhance the economic viability of the Local Government.
— Identifying and prioritizing community projects that address genuine needs.
— Evaluating government policies and programs for effectiveness and compliance.
— Recovering lost, abandoned, or stolen government property.
— Conducting periodic verification of workers and staff of the Local Government.
— Overseeing market activities to curb illegal structures and ensure orderliness etc.
The team comprises individuals with diverse expertise and experience to ensure a holistic approach to governance and development. The members include:
