Today, amidst the excitement and strategic consultations that characterized the grand finale of the campaign rally for the APC Senatorial Candidate, High Chief Hon. Ikeje Asogwa (Ide Iheaka), at Ibagwa-Aka, headquarters of Igbo Eze South Local Government Area, one man remained constantly on the move… engaging stakeholders, and offering his support.
Despite his busy schedule and active involvement throughout the event, the Coordinator of the City Boy Movement in Enugu State and renowned entrepreneur, High Chief Dr. Charles Mba (Egbeigwe N’Orba), graciously carved out a few moments to speak exclusively with The Concourse Media.
In this brief but insightful interview, Egbeigwe shared his assessment of the political atmosphere across Enugu North Senatorial Zone, the growing acceptance of High Chief Ikeje Asogwa among the electorate, the role of grassroots mobilization in the forthcoming bye-election, and his confidence in the ability of stakeholders to deliver victory at the polls on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The Concourse Media: Good afternoon, High Chief. Thank you for speaking with us amidst the excitement and activities surrounding today’s grand finale campaign rally here in Ibagwa-Aka. From what we have witnessed, the turnout has been quite remarkable. What is your general impression of today’s event?
Chief Mba: Thank you very much. First of all, let me say that what we are witnessing here today is not just a campaign rally; it is a demonstration of the overwhelming support that High Chief Ikeje Asogwa enjoys across the six Local Government Areas that make up Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
The massive turnout of party faithfuls, community leaders, youth groups, women organizations, stakeholders, elected officials, former office holders, and traditional leaders speaks volumes. People have come out willingly because they believe in the candidacy of Ikeje Asogwa. They have seen his track record and are convinced that he possesses the experience, capacity, and network required to effectively represent the people of Enugu North in the Senate.
Today’s gathering has further strengthened my conviction that the people have already made up their minds.
The Concourse Media: You have been one of the most visible supporters of Ikeje Asogwa since he declared his intention to contest this election. What informed your decision to support him so strongly?
Chief Mba: My support for Ikeje Asogwa is based on knowledge and conviction. I know him personally. I have watched his journey in public service. He is a man who has consistently demonstrated competence wherever he has served.
This is somebody who left visible footprints during his tenure at the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation. We all witnessed the transformation that took place there. He also made remarkable contributions during his time at ENSUBEB.
Leadership is about results, and Ikeje has a history of producing results. Therefore, when he indicated interest in representing Enugu North Senatorial District, it became easy for many of us to support him because we know exactly what he brings to the table.
Beyond his competence, he is accessible, humble, and deeply connected to the grassroots. Those qualities are very important in representative democracy.
The Concourse Media: From your interactions with people across the zone, would you say his acceptance cuts across political and social divides?
Chief Mba: Absolutely. In fact, that is one of the strongest factors working in his favour.
What I have observed is that Ikeje Asogwa’s popularity goes beyond party affiliations. Many people support him because of his personality and antecedents. Whether you visit Nsukka, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Eze South, Udenu or Igbo-Etiti, you will encounter people who speak positively about him.
His campaign has been issue-based. He has focused on what he intends to do for the people rather than engaging in unnecessary distractions.
The goodwill he has built over the years is now translating into political support. That is why everywhere he goes, you see genuine enthusiasm among the people.
The Concourse Media: Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah was personally present at today’s rally. What significance does his presence have for this election?
Chief Mba: The Governor’s presence sends a very strong message. It demonstrates the importance the leadership of our party attaches to this election.
Governor Peter Mbah has become a symbol of transformational leadership in Enugu State. His administration is implementing bold projects across various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, agriculture, and economic development.
His endorsement and active involvement in this campaign further energize party members and supporters.
More importantly, it reinforces the message that Ikeje Asogwa is aligned with the developmental vision currently being pursued in Enugu State. The people understand this connection and appreciate its significance.
The Concourse Media: In your various goodwill messages in the previous endorsement and campaign rallies, you emphasized grassroots mobilization. As Coordinator of the City Boy Movement in Enugu State, what role is your organization playing in this election?
Chief Mba: The City Boy Movement has remained committed to mobilizing support for progressive leadership. We have structures spread across Wards and Communities, and we have been actively engaging our members and supporters.
Our focus is simple: voter education, voter mobilization, and voter participation.
We are encouraging people not just to support Ikeje Asogwa verbally but to demonstrate that support at the polling units.
Elections are won at polling units. Everybody understands that. Therefore, our strategy has been centered on ensuring that supporters turn out massively on election day.
I can confidently assure you that in my own Orba Ward I and beyond, our members are fully mobilized and prepared.
The Concourse Media: You have repeatedly mentioned polling units. Why do you consider them so critical?
Chief Mba: Because elections are not won on social media, in newspapers, or at rallies. They are won at polling units.
The enthusiasm we are seeing today is encouraging, but the real task begins on election day. Every stakeholder understands this responsibility.
We have all agreed that this election requires commitment from every Ward, every community, and every polling unit. Everybody must contribute to the success of the party and our candidate.
The challenge before us is simple: convert support into votes and votes into victory.
I believe we are well positioned to achieve that.
The Concourse Media: As someone who has been actively involved in politics and community development, what message do you have for the people of Enugu North ahead of Saturday’s election?
Chief Mba: My message is straightforward.
Come out peacefully and vote for the candidate who has demonstrated capacity, experience, and commitment to public service. This election presents an opportunity for the people of Enugu North to strengthen their voice in the National Assembly.
Ikeje Asogwa understands the needs of our people. He understands the challenges facing our communities. He possesses the experience required to effectively engage at the national level while remaining connected to the grassroots.
I encourage everyone to participate actively in the democratic process.
The Concourse Media: Beyond this election, you have also been vocal in your support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah. Why?
Chief Mba: Leadership should always be assessed based on vision and results.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to difficult but necessary reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy for long-term growth.
Similarly, Governor Peter Mbah has shown exceptional determination in pursuing the transformation of Enugu State. The speed and scale of development projects across the State are visible for everyone to see.
As citizens and stakeholders, it is important that we support leaders who are genuinely committed to development and progress.
The Concourse Media: Finally, Chief, what is your prediction for Saturday’s bye-election?
Chief Mba: Well, in politics, no election should ever be taken for granted. However, based on what I have seen across the zone, the enthusiasm among the people, the level of mobilization, and the widespread acceptance of Ikeje Asogwa, I am very optimistic.
I expect a peaceful election and a decisive victory for our candidate.
The people have embraced him. The stakeholders are united. The structures are working. The momentum is strong.
By the grace of God and through the collective efforts of our supporters, I believe Saturday will produce a resounding victory for High Chief Ikeje Asogwa.
