According to Journalist101, the Nsukka Youth General Assembly (NYGA) has removed its President, Comrade Clinton Ogbonna, from office after issuing a firm Vote of No Confidence over what it described as misconduct, constitutional breaches, and the unauthorized use of the organization’s name to stage a protest against the Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area.
In a formal resolution signed by key executive members and dated 12 November 2025, the group stated that it had no knowledge, approval, or involvement in the protest allegedly carried out by Ogbonna in the name of NYGA.
According to the communiqué, the executives reached their decision after extensive deliberations during an emergency meeting presided over by the Vice President, Comrade Eze Juliet Adaeze.
The Assembly distanced itself from the protest, stressing that Ogbonna’s actions were “purely personal and self-serving” and did not reflect NYGA’s mission, vision, or values.
“We categorically state that the Nsukka Youth General Assembly was neither informed, involved, nor represented in the planning or execution of the said protest,” the statement read.
It added that the Assembly remains a non-political, peace-loving and development-driven organization committed to unity, dialogue, and cooperation.
Why the President Was Removed
NYGA executives listed three major grounds for Ogbonna’s impeachment and immediate removal from all positions:
Failure to convene mandatory meetings, violating constitutional provisions requiring monthly general assembly and executive sessions.
Opening an unauthorized official account in NYGA’s name without the knowledge or consent of the executive council.
Using the NYGA name for politically motivated activities, creating tension and social unrest and dragging the Assembly into politics against its founding principles.
In addition, Ogbonna has been barred from parading himself as President and given 72 hours to return all NYGA documents and property in his possession to the Secretary General.
The Assembly used the opportunity to express its appreciation to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for what it described as his “remarkable developmental strides” across the Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
“We commend his visionary leadership and commitment to good governance,” the group said.
However, the Assembly appealed for greater youth inclusion, urging the governor to expand opportunities for young people through empowerment programmes, job creation, and broader participation in governance.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and community development, NYGA urged all Nsukka youths to remain law-abiding and focused.
“We remain firmly committed to peace, youth empowerment, and community development, and we call on all Nsukka youths to remain united in the pursuit of progress,” the executives stated.
