Of a truth, what confronts us is not a genuine constitutional concern, but a bruised, oozing rant an outpouring of personal frustration thinly disguised as principled advocacy. The animating force behind this spectacle is a deep-seated hostility toward Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi, now laundered through selective constitutional outrage and ethnic posturing.
We are not ignorant of the agenda at play. For years, personal ambition has been pursued through pain, manipulation, and opportunism. It is instructive to recall that at the mid of the quagmire, in 2024 the Northern Medical Laboratory Scientists were painfully, derogatorily referred to as “cows” (with archived audio and video evidence available for the records and verification),
The unending ranting reels and public theatrics no doubt ethnically assigned errands fit the unfortunate pattern of the voice of Jacob, but the hands of Esau. Like a lone dancer by the roadside, the drummers remain hidden in the bush. The underlying message has been consistent and crude: it is either a Yoruba National President, or AMLSN must not know peace. Following the defeat of the PAM in the 2023 National Elections, a destabilization plot was hatched. A Yoruba woman, draped in borrowed Igbo identity, produced an “Omowale…DUO,” also baptized in Igbo nomenclature, and on 25 June 2024 flagrantly breached both the AMLSN Constitution and the law, plunging the Association into a protracted and avoidable crisis. This was not accidental; it was the delayed execution of a long-nurtured vendetta dating back to her disqualification from contesting for AMLSN National President in the 2000s.
In pursuit of this agenda, alliances were formed with others nursing frustrated ambitions. When the scheme faltered, frustration found expression in open insults against Northern Medical Laboratory Scientists and an illegal attempt at the same infamous gathering to impose unelected persons as National Executive Officers by recruiting runners-up from the 2023 elections to replace duly elected officers. Even more troubling was the spectacle of pseudo-neutrality by some from the same zone, who publicly claimed detachment while privately fanning the flames of crisis.
Before the HMSH Committee, self-styled woman bailiffs and commissioners of oath inadvertently revealed the plot. She confessed that had Omowale AKA: DUO been sworn in by 10th October 2023, he would have served only 39 days as President. This admission begs the obvious question: if this outcome was known, why deliberately plunge the Association into crisis? The testimonies given, alongside that of a retired General, pointed clearly to the real drummers behind the noise.
The record is instructive. In the Retired General’s EDC Written Report on DUO (Recommendations g–i, dated 16th October 2018), the findings were unequivocal:
g) The NOC Chairman, Dr Uche Odionyenma should be severely reprimanded in writing for the criminal act of transferring a sum of ten million naira (N10,000,000) from conference account to his private account and converting same for his personal use;
h) The NOC Chairman, Dr Uche Odionyenma should be made to refund the sum of ten million naira (N10,000,000) diverted to his private Bank account to AMLSN, failure of which the intervention of appropriate law enforcement agent should be contemplated to recover the fund and he should not be entrusted with any public office again;
i) For his manifest culpability of embarrassing the Association by not making allowance for payment of the balance to the caterers and thereby exposing the Association to ridicule, the NOC Chairman Dr Uche Odionyenma should be made to tender a written apology to the Association.
Yet, before the HMSH Committee comprising eminent Medical Laboratory Scientists, including Professors, the courage to stand by these findings and indictment evaporated, replaced by self-contradiction. If recommendations g–i are not an indictment, what else could they possibly be? A commendation?
Today, the same actors parade recycled alliances opportunistic PAMs and laundered DUOs imagining that the membership has forgotten or grown dull. They are mistaken. Medical Laboratory Scientists and delegates are wiser. Come 7th February 2026, they will choose rightly.
Let it therefore be said plainly: our quarrel is not with Yoruba Medical Laboratory Scientists. It is with the tribal and religious bigots among them who have repeatedly sought to hold AMLSN hostage to narrow ambitions. Please desist from the bravado, the gaslighting, and the constitutional hypocrisy. Present your candidate, if eligible, and submit to the verdict of the ballot. By the grace of God, 7th February 2026 will be a defining day for truth, for law, and for the future stability of AMLSN.
