In a bid to enhance water supply and improve working standards, the Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, has successfully rehabilitated the long-neglected boreholes at the Udenu LGA Secretariat. These facilities, which had been non-functional for several years, were previously repaired during the tenure of Hon. Onyekachi C. Ugwu as Caretaker Chairman but subsequently fell into disrepair.

In a modest inspection exercise round the installations at the Secretariat this afternoon, Aka, accompanied by the Local Government Engineer and other dignitaries, supervised the test-run of the rehabilitated boreholes. The test confirmed the boreholes are now fully operational, with water flowing efficiently and in large quantities.

The Town Engineer, while briefing the gathering, disclosed the technical specifics of the rehabilitation process. According to him, a 25-horsepower output pump was procured and installed, ensuring rapid refilling of the overhead tank to meet the water supply demands of the Secretariat and beyond.

Expressing satisfaction with the rehabilitation project, Aka commended the engineers and other stakeholders involved. He announced that plans were underway to extend the water supply scheme to benefit the host community and other areas within the peripheries of the Local Government Secretariat. “We are working on modalities to ensure proper reticulation so that residents of the host community can fetch water from these boreholes. Additionally, the system will soon supply water in commercial quantities to tanker suppliers,” Aka stated.

The brief tour of the facility was done in the presence of several dignitaries, including Onyekachi C. Ugwu; Rt. Hon. Chika Aroh, Secretary to the Local Government; Dr. Jude Ukwueze, Chief of Staff to the Chairman; Barr. Ikechukwu Eze, Legal Adviser to the Local Government; HRH Igwe Ubakaeze of Amalla; and the Local Government Engineer. Their collective presence affirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering impactful projects that address the needs of the people.

Many who saw the tap running lauded the Chairman’s proactive approach to tackling infrastructural challenges. Some of them, expressed optimism that the rehabilitated boreholes would ease the burden of water scarcity and improve sanitation among the Staff of the Local Government Secretariat.

This latest initiative forms part of the Aka Eze Aka administration’s broader agenda to deliver sustainable infrastructure and promote community welfare. The Chairman reiterated his dedication to providing practical solutions to the pressing needs of the Local Government Area.
