A high-powered delegation of the Nsukka Journalists Forum (NJF) on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka, at his office in Obollo Afor.
The delegation, led by the Forum’s Chairman, Mr. Benson-White Ezugwu, and Secretary, Mr. Felix Oguejiofor Abugwu, was warmly received by the Council Boss and members of his team, including Secretary to the Local Government — Rt. Hon. Chika Aroh. The visit was aimed at congratulating the Chairman on his election and impactful leadership and pledging the Forum’s support for his administration’s policies and developmental agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Ezugwu lauded Aka’s impressive performance since assuming office, particularly in areas of infrastructure, youth empowerment, environmental sanitation, and digital literacy.
“We are here to formally identify with your people-oriented governance and to commend your administration for the developmental milestones already recorded in so short a time,” Ezugwu said. “As watchdogs of society, it is our responsibility to spotlight positive governance as well, and we believe Udenu LGA is on the right track under your leadership.”

In his response, Aka Eze Aka expressed gratitude to the visiting Journalists for their kind words and solidarity. He described the visit as encouraging and timely, noting that it further motivates his administration to remain steadfast in delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Udenu.
While addressing the delegation, the Chairman outlined key ongoing and completed projects his administration has undertaken since inception. These, he said, reflect his commitment to inclusive development and long-term impact.
One of the flagship projects mentioned was the Udenu ICT Hub, currently undergoing comprehensive renovation. According to the Chairman, the hub is designed to be a center for digital skill acquisition, with the capacity to produce over 50 IT-compliant and tech-skilled youths annually.
“This ICT hub is not just a building; it’s a future-forward investment in our youth. We are equipping them with digital tools and skills that will make them globally competitive,” the Mayor stated.

He also highlighted the Sanitation Project for Zero Open Defecation, which aligns with a by-law passed by the Udenu Legislative Council previously. He emphasized that the enforcement of this law will begin in July this year to ensure that all homes and public spaces within Udenu are equipped with functional toilet and urinal facilities.
“This initiative is about protecting public health, promoting human dignity, and achieving a clean environment. We are serious about eradicating open defecation, and enforcement will begin soon,” he said.
On infrastructure, Aka disclosed that no fewer than four road reconstruction projects are currently ongoing across different parts of the Local Government Area. These projects, he said, are critical to improving mobility, stimulating local economies, and opening up rural communities to greater opportunities.
“Our goal is to ensure that even the remotest parts of Udenu feel the presence of Government. These roads, when completed, will significantly ease transportation and improve trade across the LGA,” he added.
The Chairman assured the Journalists that his administration is committed to transparency, accountability, and meaningful stakeholder engagement in governance. He called on members of the media to continue playing their watchdog role objectively and to always verify facts before publication.
He concluded by reiterating his open-door policy, stressing that his administration remains receptive to constructive criticism and partnerships that will drive development across the Local Government.

The visit ended with a group photograph and exchange of goodwill, as the Nsukka Journalists Forum promised to continue highlighting developmental stories that can inspire replication across other Council Areas.
