The Udenu Local Government Council has expressed profound joy and pride over the nomination of the immediate past Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for an ambassadorial appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The Council, in a formal congratulatory letter dated November 29, 2025, and signed by the Chairman, Aka Eze Aka, described the development as a well-deserved recognition of the former Governor’s distinguished service.

The message stated that the nomination was not merely a recognition of his “years of dedicated service and humility,” but also a “reaffirmation of the trust and confidence that the nation continues to repose in you.” The Council noted that the honour has filled the entire Udenu family with “immense pride,” especially given the nationwide commendation that has followed the announcement.

“As a proud son of Udenu, you have consistently distinguished yourself as an exemplary ambassador of our Local Government, of Enugu State, and indeed of Nigeria, both in and out of office,” the letter read.

The Udenu Local Government Council celebrated the new national assignment as a fresh opportunity for Rt. Hon. Ugwuanyi to showcase his renowned “trademark diplomacy and bridge-building qualities” for which he is widely known.

The Council concluded by expressing its confidence that the former Governor would excel in his new role and continue to bring glory to the nation, wishing success to the “Gburugburu of Africa.”
