Political stakeholders, community leaders, party faithful, youth organisations, market unions, professionals, and women groups across Enugu South Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed the Executive Chairman, Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani, for a second term in office, describing him as “the most credible, competent, and development-driven choice” for the continued advancement of the council area.

The stakeholders said their collective endorsement followed extensive consultations across wards and communities, as well as the public approval and confidence reposed in the chairman by the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose administration they said remains firmly committed to competence, continuity, productivity, and transformational governance.

According to the stakeholders, Hon. Ani’s emergence as the consensus choice for a second term was not orchestrated through political coercion or elite manipulation, but rather through what they described as “an overwhelming convergence of grassroots confidence, administrative performance, and strategic alignment with the developmental vision of the Enugu State Government.”

In a joint position made available to journalists in Enugu, the stakeholders maintained that Enugu South could not afford to derail the developmental trajectory already established under the current administration.

“Our decision to unanimously endorse Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani for a second term was deliberate, strategic, and people-oriented. This endorsement is rooted in visible performance, accessible leadership, political maturity, and his unwavering commitment to grassroots development,” the statement read.

“Governor Mbah Saw Capacity, Competence, and Results”

The stakeholders stated that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s endorsement of Hon. Ani did not come as a surprise to many residents, insisting that the governor acknowledged what the people of Enugu South already understood — that the chairman had distinguished himself as a dependable grassroots administrator with the capacity to translate state policies into practical community impact.

According to them, Governor Mbah’s governance philosophy prioritises measurable results, institutional discipline, innovation, and service delivery, values they said are strongly reflected in Hon. Ani’s leadership style.

“Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is not known to encourage mediocrity. His support for Hon. Caleb Ani is a direct consequence of performance, loyalty to governance ideals, administrative stability, and visible developmental outcomes across Enugu South,” the stakeholders stated.

They further noted that the chairman had successfully positioned the local government as one of the most politically coordinated and administratively responsive councils in the state.

“Caleb Ani Has Reconnected Government With the Grassroots”

The stakeholders praised Hon. Ani for what they described as his “uncommon grassroots connectivity” and ability to maintain direct engagement with ordinary residents irrespective of political affiliation or social status.

According to them, the chairman has strengthened confidence in local governance through open-door leadership, rapid intervention in community concerns, improved environmental management, youth mobilisation, sanitation reforms, and support-driven initiatives targeting vulnerable groups.

A prominent stakeholder from Amechi community, Chief Emma Ugwu (Enyidiuru), described the chairman as “a bridge between government and the people.”

“Before now, many residents saw local government as distant and inaccessible. Hon. Caleb Ani changed that perception completely. He brought governance closer to the people, listened to communities, and responded to their concerns with urgency and responsibility,” he said.

The stakeholders also commended the chairman for sustaining peace and political stability within the local government despite mounting political pressures and competing interests.

“Leadership Is Earned Through Service, Not Noise”

The endorsement groups dismissed criticisms from opposing camps, insisting that leadership legitimacy is earned through service, public trust, and measurable impact rather than political propaganda or manufactured narratives.

They argued that while every democratic society permits dissenting opinions, the “overwhelming mood” across Enugu South strongly favours continuity under Hon. Ani’s administration.

“Leadership is not sustained through noise-making, blackmail, or political entitlement. Leadership is earned through sacrifice, service, accessibility, and the confidence of the people. Hon. Caleb Ani has earned that confidence,” the stakeholders declared.

The groups warned against attempts to distort political realities within the local government, insisting that the people of Enugu South would resist any agenda capable of destabilising ongoing developmental progress.

“Continuity Is Necessary for Sustainable Development”

The stakeholders further maintained that continuity remained essential for consolidating ongoing projects, strengthening institutional coordination, and sustaining alignment between the state government and the local government administration.

According to them, abrupt political disruption could undermine several developmental initiatives currently benefiting communities across the council area.

A women leader from Uwani Ward, Mrs. Ngozi Ugwu, said residents were more interested in continuity, stability, and practical governance than divisive political rhetoric.

“The people have seen commitment, visibility, and leadership. They want continuity because they believe Hon. Caleb Ani understands the needs of Enugu South and has the energy and capacity to continue delivering,” she stated.

The stakeholders reaffirmed their total support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s leadership and pledged to mobilise massive grassroots support for his second-term bid.

They insisted that the chairman’s endorsement represents “the collective voice of the people” and a strategic decision aimed at preserving stability, accelerating development, and strengthening grassroots governance across Enugu South Local Government Area.
