To actualise this laudable plan, in line with his “…In Touch with tomorrow” mantra, the Executive Chairman of Udenu LGA — Akachukwu Eze, has gone to the expansive land lying between Ogwu Obollo Afor and the fringes of uppermost northern part of Obollo Etiti to survey and develop a new market and vibrant economic hub for Udenu. He had prior to that, on October 04 (just four days after his swearing-in) sent an official memo to Ogwu General Assembly, the Ogwu Town Union and all stakeholders of the areas mapped out for the new innovative economic hub to discuss the development modalities. The meeting yielded results with affirmative nods of the people. It was a welcome development among all, save for a select few who seemingly misunderstood it.
But what we need to know is that in today’s rapidly evolving global economy, the importance of strategic development is paramount. Udenu known for its cultural heritage and resource potential, stands at a pivotal juncture as it gears up for a transformative initiative spearheaded by our visionary leader. The proposed development of a new market and vibrant economic hub between Ogwu and some parts of Obollo Etiti promises not only to alleviate the congestion in Obollo Afor, but also to usher in a new era of economic prosperity for Udenu. However, there are some individuals within the community who are resisting this progressive plan. It is crucial that we come together to dispel misunderstandings, recognize the importance of the initiative, and unite towards a common goal.
Obollo Afor, while historically significant, is currently burdened by economic congestion and spatial limitations. With its borders constrained by major roads, the area is unable to expand or evolve to meet the growing needs of the community. This reality stifles economic growth, limits entrepreneurial opportunities, and detracts from the overall quality of life for residents. The proposed economic hub seeks to address this issue directly by creating a well-planned space that facilitates trade, services, and networking among local businesses.
By developing a new market, we can draw investments from various sectors—agriculture, craft, retail, and services—resulting in job creation and increased income for our residents. This initiative is not merely a project; it is an opportunity to invigorate our economy and offer a diverse array of employment possibilities.
Those resistant to change must consider that thriving local businesses can contribute to social upliftment and create a sustainable economic model for future generations.
Beyond the economic implications, this project will foster social cohesion within the community. Markets are not merely places where transactions occur; they serve as gathering spaces where cultural exchanges happen. Through this initiative, we can celebrate our rich heritage while encouraging interactions among the diverse demographic of Udenu.
Resistance from a segment of the community can be traced to a lack of understanding or fear of change. It is important to recognize that progress often requires a collective effort. The support from the Ogwu General Assembly and the Ogwu Town Union shows the communal spirit of Udenu. Thus, the few individuals resisting the project must reconsider their stance. By pushing back against this initiative, they are not only undermining their interests, but also endangering the collective welfare of the community.
By engaging in open dialogues, addressing concerns, and collaborating with stakeholders, we can demystify this project, bringing clarity to its benefits. It is crucial for those hesitating to understand that embracing this development plan is not only an act of support for the administration but a step toward safeguarding their own prosperity.

If there is protests from Ogwu people let it be diverted to another place lying on a major Federal Highway. Access to good road should be a major factor to be considered in siting the market.
You are right. But as regards access road, I believe the Mayor wants to use the Proposed market to attract the attention of state government to the Obollo Afor-Okpakerekere-Umuitodo-Ibenda-Obollo Eke Umuero Road.
I hope you understand how that works.
